Install Jellyfin Docker with Haredware Acceleration

Driver Install

install gpu driver

sudo apt install intel-media-va-driver-non-free

install linux-oem depend on linux kernel version or system version.

sudo apt install linux-oem-22.04

ls /dev/dri -l should show files after gpu driver installed succeed.

use cat /etc/group | grep render get reder gid, i got 109.

Start Docker

Using Docker command

sudo docker run -d \
 --name jellyfin \
 --group-add 109 \
 --group-add video \
 --net=host \
 --env http_proxy=http://127.0.0.1:1081\
 --env https_proxy=http://127.0.0.1:1081\
 --volume jellyfin-config:/config \
 --volume jellyfin-cache:/cache \
 --mount type=bind,source=/home/dongdaming/disk,target=/media \
 --restart=unless-stopped \
 --device /dev/dri/renderD128:/dev/dri/renderD128 \
 --device /dev/dri/card0:/dev/dri/card0 \
nyanmisaka/jellyfin:latest

you can use id command to get uid and gid. In this example, two volume is created to save configurations and caches. jellyfin-config and jellyfin-cache can be replace by a directory to save those files. /media is used to place media files.

Comparing to offical image, nyanmisaka/jellyfin:latest has include chinese fonts and intel media driver.

Play vedio, got following message in log indicate hardware acceleration is working.

Stream mapping:
  Stream #0:0 -> #0:0 (hevc (native) -> h264 (h264_qsv))
  Stream #0:1 -> #0:1 (copy)
